Provocations

Provocations helps to Stimulating someone's interest, curiosity Open ended questions Developing curiosity Spark someone's interest Making curious about something Explain why you think Provocations is good for all Play is where friendships are born Encouraged to plan and build relationships Develop social skills, language, confidence Play and provocations go hand in hand What is our environment tells the learners? To play, not afraid of investigating in our environment How to design a provocations? Two ways to classify provocations Observational provocations-watch a caterpillar grow into a butterfly Sensory provocations- smelling the flower or spices Discovery provocation-go around with a magnifying to find interesting things Reflection After i heard Di talking about provocations, it encouraged me to think about how i could set up the environment which will stimulate the learners curiosity and invite the learners to play. I was thinking of setting up the environment which i want the learners to progress in certain areas. For example if we are talking about garden, what kind of plants we could plant, what are the seasons are good for the plants to grow. Next thing I want to set up activities based on the plants by providing some seeds for them to explore. When i give some provocations about seeds or plants will give opportunity for the learners to explore, think and ask questions regarding that. So it will be a great opportunity for me to ask some open ended questions, what do the learners already know about it and where do we go next.

Learners Question: How do we get white flour?
Learner 1: from the shop
LC: how did it come to the shop?
Learner: from another shop
WE want to give an experience for the learners to find out where do the wheat flour come from?
Learners explored with wheat seeds, tasted, touched and smelt.
Learners experienced - How to make the wheat into flour? Explored how to use the blender to grind the wheat

Learning to use mathletics app helped me to learn more about using technology in my day to day learning and teaching environment. I got familiarise with some of the tools, so that i could encourage the learners in our learning time and also i could talk to the parents to use in their home learning time. The programme was very easy to learn and easy to adopt in my teaching programme and more effective for the learners to use at home.

Meet the LC's evening.

Poster about collaboration

Making a collaborative poster about collaboration enabled me to think about the collaborative work I do with my family, children, friends and the learners. It made me to think about my capabilities and encouraged me how I could incorporate our learning programme through those ideas. I was thinking how i would share my responsibilities with my family and how I include them in my different activities, so i thought of trying those strategies with my learners at school.

Meet the LCs evening
It was a wonderful opportunity to have a parent evening because i had the opportunity to interact with them and build relationships with them. We had a talk about healthy eating, healthy playing, iExplore, iExperience, iDevelop and how do the school work in a collaborative way. The parents had lots of questions to ask about how our programme works and how they could make their children settle quite quickly in our environment. Building relationships with parents, including them in our programme by asking them to send waste free and healthy lunch will be helpful to work in partnership(parent, teacher and learner) to extend our learners learning a bit deeper. It's good to get trust from the parents first so that they can talk to their learners about the school environment and the learning coaches will help the learners to feel more secured and feel emotionally comfortable in our environment.
